The laptop comes in a fairly compact box. Complete with ASUS ROG Zephyrus offers a power supply, a set of related documentation, an external Ethernet controller, made in the form of an adapter USB-RJ-45, additional rubber palm rest, wired gaming mouse ASUS ROG Strix Impact.
The most unusual accessory that is not included with other laptops is a Phillips screwdriver. The laptop was so compact that according to the manufacturer, it does not need a separate backpack and it can fit into the compartment of the usual travel bag.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus looks elegant. This is a very thin medium-format laptop with a thickness of only 16.9–17.9 mm.
An excellent result even by the standards of conventional consumer models and an incredible figure for gaming laptops with GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. The body is made of aircraft alloy. ASUS ROG Zephyrus has dimensions 37926216.9-17.9 mm and weights 2.25 kg.
Of course, the most impressive is the very thin body, especially when you realize what components are inside. Models with such equipment are often at least twice as thick.
An interesting decorative technique is used on the top cover. The panel is asymmetrically divided into two parts with diagonal bending of the surface, with each segment having multidirectional texture grinding. This refinement adds to the effect of the external design of the device.
The panel also clearly shows a large logo of the game series Republic of Gamers (ROG), which is highlighted in red during system operation.
All connectors are placed on the side faces. On the left panel there is a connector for connecting the power supply, full-size HDMI 2.0, two USB 3.0 ports and a combined audio Jack for connecting headphones/headset.
Here we can consider the grille of the radiator unit, through which part of the heated air is blown. Note that the connector for the external PSU is unusually located in the Central part of the panel.
At first, there were fears that this may somehow affect the usability of the laptop, but since the keyboard unit in this case is located at the bottom, and for the power cable has an L-shaped connector, no difficulties arise here.
On the right side there are two more classic ports USB 3.0 and symmetrical USB Type-C, which in this case is used for the Thunderbolt interface. Closer to the display unit is a niche for fixing Kensington lock.
As you can see, the panels do not seem to be necessary for the gaming system connector RJ-45. The thin case of the laptop simply does not allow you to place the appropriate outlet. However, the manufacturer understands that Ethernet support is important, because bundled with ASUS ROG Zephyrus initially offers an external network controller connected via USB 3.0.
The lack of built-in card reader requires to get used to the idea that to write/read data from flash cards also need to use an additional adapter.
On the front face only a noticeable inscription ASUS and a small visor, which is convenient to pry, opening the top cover of the laptop.
On the back surface you can see the grille of the cooling system, through which the heated air is blown out, and in the Central part the name of the model is applied, which apparently should save the owner from frequent questions about the outlandish novelty.
CONCLUSION: ASUS ROG Zephyrus is the thinnest gaming laptop with a lightweight version of the GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card. A very interesting practical implementation of NVIDIA Max design definitely deserved to move from the concept to at least the stage of small-scale production. True connoisseurs of graceful forms will be satisfied. Outstanding design, stylish metal body, excellent screen, powerful high-speed components. That rare case when a powerful gaming laptop can not only please with good performance, but also on occasion to play the role of an image enthusiast device. Yes, Yes, in this class you can surprise not only with a complete suitcase on wheels. Fans of practical solutions will rather look in the direction of traditional models on GeForce GTX 1070, which, although they do not have the standard tightened forms, will not be much inferior to Zephyrus in terms of production of valuable fps and will be cheaper.
